“Love Language”
This painting is the result of endless conversations taking place between multiple stakeholders: carmine red, turquoise blue, black ink, and water. Each of these entities speak their own language at the same time, all within the boundaries of the paper, as well as the two spheres brokering an agreement between the energies populating the interior and exterior of the two circles. Though multiple voices are being expressed all at once through the use of color, shapes, and density, their collective symphony conveys a single message: love.
Love is the primary force governing all of the participants in this painting; it acts as a universal law, answering mystifying questions such as: Why must there be two spheres? Why can the carmine red only dwell outside of the sphere’s circumference, but the black can come in and out as it pleases? What are the smaller, thinner turquoise lineworks inside the spheres? Are they spirits? To answer these questions, Love has to be understood as an omnipotent driver.
We encounter similar questions in our lives; from the quotidian and banal, to the life-altering and soul-changing. We observe seemingly arbitrary - and often unjustifiable - conditions around us in our environment, and within our mind and emotions. Whether we grow up with these conditions, or they are introduced to us at a certain point in time, we can hardly ever change them; instead, we must accept them as they are, with love.
